Sophie Bourchier is the Project Officer of Substance Misuse Limestone Coast (SMLC) and has been involved with the original SMLC working party for more than five years.
With a Graduate Diploma in Youth Mental Health and Diplomas in Youth Work and Community Services Alcohol and Other Drugs and Mental Health, Sophie has more than sixteen-years experience in the health sector, specialising in youth drug and alcohol education, treatment and prevention.
Throughout her career, Sophie has worked in key roles with the Department of Child Protection, as a counsellor with Drug and Alcohol and Other Services (DASSA) and as Health Promotion Team Manager with SE Regional Community Health Services.
Sophie both founded and developed the iPOP Peer Education program and the Independent Living Program for Children under the Guardianship of the Minister.
A founding member of the region’s award-winning Suicide Prevention Network where she was an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Trainer, Sophie also is involved with the Millicent Social Issues Group and volunteers at Mount Gambier’s Sunset Community Kitchen.
